Mohawk Weight Team Dominates at Hoxie Meet
Members of the Piggott Mohawk "Ironworkers" weight lifting team took first place in a meet at Hoxie last week, with several PHS lifters taking top honors.
In the 132-pounds-and-under class Mohawk senior Justin Goding took first place in the bench press with a lift of 195 pounds, and first in the power clean at 185 pounds. His combined weight of 380 pounds also gave him first place overall in the weight division.
Mason Tillman had a strong performance in the 166-181 pound division, as he was second in the bench press with 245 pounds and second in the power clean with 185. His combined weight of 430 pounds was also enough to earn him a first place finish overall in his weight division.
Reegan Mayberry was dominate in the 182-198 pound weight division, taking first in the bench with a lift of 255 and first in the power clean with a lift of 235. His 490 pound total also earned him the first place overall finish in the division.
In the same division, Lane Buchanon was second in the bench with a lift of 250 pounds, and second in the power clean at 235. His combined weight of 485 was good enough for second overall, giving the Tribe a one-two finish.
Cade Harrell also dominated the 199-220 pound weight division, taking first in the bench press with a lift of 305 and first in the power clean with a lift of 280 pounds. His combined weight of 585 pounds was more than enough for first in his weight division, and actually eclipsed the totals of the higher weight divisions.
Nate Mallard took first in the 221-242 pound weight division, as he lifted 285 on the bench and 265 in the power clean. His combined total was 550 pounds, which earned him the first place overall in the division.
Devin Riley competed in the 243 pound-and-up division and took third in the bench press with a lift of 285 pounds and third in the power clean with a lift of 235 pounds. His total weight of 520 pounds was also good enough to nail down a third place finish overall in the weight division.
