The Piggott Junior Mohawk squad hosted Rivercrest Monday afternoon, and beat the Colts in extra innings by a score of 13-12. Tanner Dixon got the start, but didn't figure in the decision, as eighth grader Brandon Seal came on in relief and got the win.

The squad, which is made up of seventh and eighth graders and one sixth grader, jumped to an early lead on Rivercrest but the Colts battled back. Going into the bottom of the eighth inning, the Tribe trailed 12-8. After a bases-loaded walk pushed the score to 12-9, Logan Ralph cleared the bases for the Piggott squad with a hit that plated three tallies.

Michael Parker came to the plate next, and belted the first offering well over the outfielders heads. This allowed Ralph to score from first without drawing a play at the plate, winning the game in a walk-off.

The victory for the young Mohawks extends their season record to 2-1. They're slated to resume play after spring break on Monday, March 27, with a contest at Corning. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
