Spring Sports Underway at Complex, Glen Sain Tourney Set

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Spring and summer ball playing in Rector has begun.

Most afternoons and weekends see lots of action at the Rector Sports Complex. In addition to the RHS Sr. High Baseball Cougars, Jr. High Baseball Cougars, Lady Cougar Softball and Jr. High Lady Cougar Softball (new this year), lots of younger boys and girls are practicing on every field.

"Stop by anytime and watch games and practices at our complex and support the youth of our town," complex board member said. "If you would like to volunteer your time and efforts, contact any Rector Sports Complex board member and we will find you a spot!

The Glen Sain Pre-Season Invitational Baseball Tournament will be held in Rector on April 7-8. 'We would like to thank Glen Sain Motor Sales Inc. and Danny Ford for sponsoring this tournament every year," the board member said. "We already have several teams signed up for the tournament and plan to have the same great BBQ and specialty 'ballgame food' we have every year. Plan your lunch and dinner at the park and watch some great baseball."

The age groups for the tournament are 7/8 year-olds, 9/10 year-olds, and 11/12 year-olds.

There also will be a softball tournament May 5-6 with more details coming later. There will be a raffle this summer as an additional fund-raiser for the complex -- a Certified Rawlings Offical Major League Baseball personally signed by Chris Carpenter in August of 2016. It is signed and numbered and has a Certificate of Authenticity (more details coming soon).
