Grand Opening Held for PSB Rector Branch
A grand opening, and ribbon cutting, was held at the new Piggott State Bank Rector branch on Tuesday, March 21, as the facility is now open for business. The Rector Area Chamber of Commerce held the ribbon cutting for the new facility, the first opened by the long-time local bank outside of Piggott. Throughout the remainder of the day the staff held an open house, and served hamburgers on the parking lot of the location at 400 South Main.
"We're very excited to be in Rector, we've had a lot of good Rector customers for a long time and this gave us the perfect opportunity to expand a bit," PSB President Cody Knight offered. "We feel this will be good for us and for all of Clay County. When we looked at expanding this was the natural progression, it's a great opportunity."
The building was formerly the Bank of Rector, and the past several years had housed a Region's Bank branch. In July of last year Region's announced the branch would be closing by October, with the accounts transferred to Paragould. Earlier this year Piggott State Bank received regulatory approval to acquire the branch, and it opened for business in the past two weeks.
"It's so good to welcome them here, and we are so glad not to have another empty building on Main Street," Rector Mayor Teresa Roofe remarked. "I can't think of anything better than to have Cody here, his daddy and his family were from Rector, so we're just glad to have them and we're so excited."
The staff of the new branch include loan officer Shawn Parker, new accounts representative Brooke Alberson, customer service representative Barbara Jones and customer service representative Lexy Harley. Knight will serve as president of the branch.
Rector Chamber of Commerce president Ron Kemp noted the addition of the Piggott State Bank branch will have a good effect. "I think this will be great for downtown Rector, to have a great institution right here in the middle of town," he observed. "I feel this will be positive for the entire community."
The branch will be open the same hours as the main PSB location, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
"I have been thrilled with the way we have been received by the people of Rector," Parker said of the weeks the branch has been open. "It's been great so far, and we're looking forward to serving the people of Rector and the surrounding area in the future."
