Last Thursday, April 6, members of the Piggott Mohawk track team took part in the Wellman Junior High Relays at Pocathontas. On the day, Lady Mohawk Taylor Seal won the high point trophy, beating girls from nearly two dozen regional schools in the process. As for the team as a whole, they also posted a top-10 performance.

The Tribe took part in the well-known event against a variety of other schools, including Rivercrest, Gosnell, Nettleton, Annie Camp and McArthur, to mention a few.

Seal continued with the success she enjoyed last year, winning the girls long jump event with a distance of 14 feet and 9 inches. She also took first place in the 100 meter hurdles, setting a time of 17.73 seconds.

She also finished third in the 100-meter dash, sixth in the 200-meter and fourth in the 400-meter dash. Seal also took part in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, helping the Lady Mohawk junior team to a seventh place finish among the 23 teams on hand for the competition.

According to Coach Walter Rau, this marks the seventh time she has earned the high point trophy at a meet since she began track in the seventh grade.

The Mohawk girls and boys will be in action next Thursday, April 20, as the 3A-3 Junior High District Track Meet is set at Pocahontas High School.
