Thursday, April 13, 2017

A Rector native was killed in a single vehicle crash in northern Greene County Sunday. The Arkansas State Police reports Marion “Nye” Pruett, 56, of Paragould, was pronounced dead at the scene after she apparently failed to negotiate a curve and her vehicle ran off the roadway and struck several trees.

The report indicated the crash occurred at 10:29 a.m. Sunday on Highway 135, about two miles south of Lafe. Pruett was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata northbound at the time, and the report indicated conditions were clear and the pavement was dry. The report further indicated she was pronounced at the scene by Greene County Coronor Dick Pace.

The crash was investigated by Trooper Anthony Hill of Troop C, Jonesboro.

Pruett was a local native, a lifelong area resident and 1978 graduate of Rector High School.
