Easter Activities At Hand

Many of the younger Piggott Elementary School students were treated to an Easter egg hunt Tuesday morning. The hunt was hosted by the Piggott Schools Gifted and Talented students, and held on the grounds of the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center. In addition to the egg hunt, the kids also had a chance to visit with the Easter bunny and hear an Easter story, read by the GT students.(TD photo/Tim Blair)

Easter weekend is at hand, with a number of special events and services.

Noon-time services are being held through Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Piggott. Rector First Baptist Church is hosting an egg hunt, and spring fest, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The egg hunt will be at the football field, with the spring fest to follow at the church--located next to the Post Office.

Emmanuel Baptist Church of Piggott is holding a cross walk beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Good Friday. The route will be from the court square east on Main, then north to the church. There will also be a "glow run" 5K that evening, with a 7 p.m. start. There is a $20 entry fee, with proceeds benefiting their mission projects. They'll hold their annual Easter celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday with food, prizes, games, bounce houses, pony rides and the big egg hunt. A new offering this year is an Easter meal, open to all, at 11 a.m. on Saturday at EBC.

The Easter bunny visited the Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum Tuesday morning as part of an egg hunt hosted by the museum and the Piggott Schools Gifted and Talented program. Although Norah Cox is still too young for school, she delighted in the chance to meet the bunny in person. She's the daughter of Christina and Kyle Cox.(TD photo/Tim Blair)

Meanwhile, New Hope Baptist Church at Pollard is hosting an egg hunt from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and will have games, face painting, jelly bean guess game, soda toss, hot dogs and more.

Sunrise services at FUMC of Piggott will be held at 6:30 a.m. with regular worship service at 9:30, and again at 11 a.m. at Wright's Chapel.

EBC will hold Sunday School at 9 a.m. on Easter Sunday, with worship services to follow at 10.

Additional activities, and services, are also planned at other churches across the region in observance of the Easter holiday.
