Lonnie Cecil McDonald
Lonnie Cecil McDonald, 89, of Rector, Ark., died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at his home.
Born November 10, 1927, in Greenway, Ark., Mr. McDonald was retired from Emerson Electric and from farming. He enjoyed playing music, traveling all over the U.S. as a teenager playing the bass guitar with several groups. He also played with Roy Clark, and his cousin was “Skeets” McDonald of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Survivors include two sons, Randy (Martha Ann) McDonald of Little Rock, Ark., and David Thomas McDonald of Jonesboro, Ark.; two daughters, Diana Joyce Hale of St. Ann, Mo. and Shelia Ritter of Rector; four grandchildren, Pamela Joyce David of St. Louis, Mo., Patricia Alice Hale of Batchtown, Ill., Dawn Marie Beaudoin of Des Moines, Iowa and Demian Shane Ritter of Rector; and five great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Lessie McDonald; his wife, Betty McDonald; one son, Larry McDonald; one brother, Leon McDonald; and three sisters, Edna Mills, Jewell Walls and Vernie.
Visitation was held Sunday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 17, in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel of Rector, with Joey Ethridge officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery, north of Rector.
