PHS Junior Track Team at District

The Piggott Junior Mohawk track teams took part in their district meet at Pocahontas last Tuesday, April 18. The Lady Mohawks brought back a third place finish among the schools competing, while the boys were fifth.

The Junior Lady Mohawks finished third behind Rivercrest (188) and Osceola (132) with a total of 84 points in the meet. Manila was fourth with 70 points, while Hoxie (40), Corning (38), Walnut Ridge (23) and Riverside (9) also competed.

In the 200 meter dash Lady Mohawk Taylor Seal took first with Micha Harrell finishing seventh and Jordan Tate recording a 19th place finish. Seal also won the 100 meter hurdles, with Piggott's Shaylin Lewis coming in seventh, Micha Harrell eighth and Macey Williams in 10th.

In the 100 meter dash Seal took second place, while Piggott's Abby Dutka and Claire Bellers were 10th and 11th and Lewis ran 14th.

Lady Mohawk Emma Shaw was second in the 1600 meter race, with Katelyn Robertson finishing sixth and Makayla Allman in eighth place. Shaw also had a strong showing in the 400 meter dash with a sixth, follwed by Shi Higdon in ninth and Seal in 10th.

Micha Harrell and Maddie Reeves were fourth and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles, with Piggott's Macey Williams finishing 11th.

The Lady Mohawks also finished second in the 4x400 relay, with Shaw, Lewis, Higdon and Reeves each running a leg. The squad also took second place honors in the 4x800 relay with Robertson, Allman, Elise Gossett and Annalee Massey each running a leg.

The boys team finished fifth with 28.5 points behind Rivercrest (190), Walnut Ridge (137), Osceola (110.5) and Manila (67) and ahead of Hoxie (27), Corning (25,5) and Riverside (16.5).

Checking individual and team performances, in the 100 meter dash Sky Wright was 10th, Drake Featherstone was 16th and Zac Gilbee 17th. In the 110 hurdles Logan Ralph was sixth, Ethan Ralph 14th, Hayden Emerson 15th and Brandon Seal 16th.

Ben Holcomb was fourth in the 1600 meter run, with Trey Cavaness finishing eighth. In the 200 meter run Michael Parker was 10th, Gilbee was 11th, Ethan Ralph finished 18th and Nicky Risner was 21st.

Tanner Dixon was 12th in the 300 meter hurdles, with Logan Ralph 14th, Levi Cook 17th and Seal was 18th. In the 400 meter dash Emerson was 12th, Ethan Ralph was 13th, Risner was 16th and Gilbeee was 19th.

Holcomb also took a ninth place finish in the 800 meter run.

The Tribe ran fifth in the 4x100 with Wright, Featherston, Parker and Logan Ralph each running a leg. In the 4x400 they placed a strong third with Wright, Featherston, Holcomb and A.J. Riley each running a leg. And, the team of Ethan Ralph, Logan Ralph, Seal and Riley ran fourth in the 4x800.

In the field events, James Andrews was 17th in the discus, with Alex Tharp finishing in 20th and Dalton James and Kyson Conley finishing 23rd and 24th.

Wright finished sixth in the high jump, with Parker posting a 10th place finish, Ethan Ralph in 18th and Emerson in 20th. Wright also placed seventh in the long jump, with Gilbee finishing in 20th, Holcomb in 22nd and Featherston in 23rd.

In the shot put, James finished in ninth place, Andrews was 10th, Conley finished in 14th and Tharp was 22nd.

And, in the triple jump competition Parker finished in 13th, Logan Ralph was 14th, Dixon was 20th and Featherston finished 23rd in the field.
