District Tourney Update

District tourney play is wrapping up today across the region due to a soggy forecast for Saturday. Thursday the finals were played in the 3A baseball tournament at Lake City, with the 2A at Marked Tree wrapping up today for both baseball and softball with twin bills.

The Piggott Mohawks fell to Manila 3-1 in the third-fourth place seeding game on Thursday, with the host Rebels beating Corning in the championship game by the same tally. The Tribe had fell to Riverside in the semi-finals 8-2, after beating Rivercrest in the first round. The Mohawks will enter next week's regional at Manila as the four seed.

At Bay, the Rector Cougars whipped Ridgefield Christian 19-5 in the third-fourth place seeding game, while Bay handled Armorel 4-3 in the title game. The Lady Cougars also advance to the regional, as they made it to the semi-finals at Bay as well in the softball bracket.

The Lady Greyhounds pounded Sloan Hendrix 13-0 Thursday at Marked Tree, while Cotter beat BIC 10-4, EPC downed Flippin 7-2 and Salem eliminated the host Lady Indians 6-3. Semi finals and finals will be played today.

As for the Marmaduke baseball squad, they fell to Sloan-Hendrix 11-0, while EPC beat Cotter 11-3, BIC eliminated Flippin 3-2 and Salem beat Marked Tree 11-1. Semi finals and finals were to be played Friday as well, and more details may be found in the upcoming edition of the CCTD.
