James Ray, 87, of Rector, Ark., passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at his home.
He was born April 20, 1930, in Hornersville, Mo., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Ray retired from Darling Store Fixtures after 27 years of service and was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. He was a member of the Teamsters, and enjoyed shooting pool.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Ray of the home; four sons, James Ray, Jr., Robert Ray, David Ray and Steven Ray; and one daughter, Donna (Kenneth) Baker, all of Rector. He is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Meade of Bono and Betty McMillin of Rector; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Ray, Lisa Brown, Alexandria Ray, Myles Ray and Samantha Young; and by three great grandchildren, Reagan, Zoey and Dexter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Icie Ray; two brothers, Lloyd and Shelby Ray; and two sisters, Ovena and Charlene.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, at Mitchell Funeral Home of Rector.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, in the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel, Rector, with Tommy Pitcher officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Heights Cemetery.
Travis Baker, Kenneth Baker, Farren Young, Myles Ray, Steven Ray, and Robert Ray will serve as pallbearers.
