Billy Henry Benson
Billy Henry Benson, of Rector, Ark., entered Heavens gates on May 11, 2017. He was born to Eric and Alice Benson, in Boydsville, Ark., on November 22, 1937. Bill was a cherished husband, dad, and paw-paw. He was a longtime member of the Fifth and Pine Church of Christ congregation. He loved to ride his horses and spend time with his family. He loved to laugh and strived to make others enjoy life as much as he did. Bill worked hard throughout his life and taught his family to work hard as well. He owned a service station in St. Louis, worked as a jailer in Clay County and farmed land outside of Rector.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Jane Benson, of the home; three sons, Bart Benson, Brad Benson and Bruce Benson; Bruceís wife, LaVonda, and their three daughters, Chelsea and Madison Benson, and Breanna Dixon; Breannaís husband, James, and their son, Baby James. He is also survived by his family of caregivers at Rector Nursing and Rehab.
A celebration of Billís life was held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Fifth and Pine Church of Christ, in Rector, with Bro. Ken Roden officiating. Burial followed in the Woodland Heights Cemetery. The family received visitors Saturday afternoon, prior to services, at the church.
Pallbearers were Brent Haley, Joel Hayes, David Romine, David Simpson, Jr., Wade Shimming and Bart Benson.
