Local Softball Players Named All-State

Thursday, June 1, 2017

The Arkansas Activities Association recently released the All-State selections for spring sports, and two local softball players are included. To no one's surprise, Rector Lady Cougar Maddie Hobbs and Marmaduke Lady Greyhound Jordan Mays have been named to their respective rosters.

Hobbs was named to the 1A All-State list, which also includes Mallory Hartley of Bay among others.

Mays was named to the 2A All-State list, and was joined by Meagan Allen of EPC, Harley Daniels of Marked Tree and Erin Cameron of Salem to mention a few.

Mays is also slated to play in the annual AHSCA Basketball All-Star game later this month in Conway.

A coach with local ties was also recognized for a strong season this past week, as Armorel's Deanna (Conley) Carr was chosen as an assitant for the upcoming softball All-Star game. Carr was a multi-sport standout for the Lady Mohawks and played volleyball for the UCA Sugar Bears. She'll be assisting Todd Finley, of Bald Knob, in coaching the east squad later this month.

The complete listing of all the All-State selections may be found on the Arkansas Activities Association website at ahsaa.org
