Lady 'Hounds Hoops Standout on All-Star Roster
A local player will lace up for the upcoming Arkansas High School Coach's Association all star basketball game, set for Thursday, June 22. in the Farris Center, in Conway. Marmaduke Lady Greyhound multi-sport standout Jordan Mays will be on the girl's east roster as they take on the west team. The contest is part of a double-header with the all star boys, with the first game set to tip off at 6 p.m.
Mays, who recently signed to attend Freed Hardeman University and play basketball for the Lady Lions, was also a standout on the softball diamond and competed in track for the Lady 'Hounds. She was also a member of the school's first-ever state championship team, and the teams she played on racked up over 100 wins during her high school career.
She'll be playing on the east squad which is coached by Harlan Davis, of Pocahontas, with assistance from Mike Chipman of Hoxie, Shunda Johnson of Marion and Braden Watson of Bay.
The remainder of the squad includes Carissa Caples of Rose Bud, Jakyya Clay of Marion, Kennedy Cooper of ICC, Ashlyn Ellis of Pocahontas, Jacie Higgins of Conway, Marie Hunter of Marion, Abigail Jackson of Little Rock Central, Tori Lasker from Mayflower, Sarahane Linsay from Star City, Maggie Mahan of Nemo Vista, Katelyn Mason of Rison, Hannah Qualls of Batesville, Morgan Wallace of Pulaski Academy and Kristen Wiseman of Pocahontas.
They'll take on the west squad, coached by Vic Rimmer of Fayeteville with assistance from Dustin Peters of Scranton, Casey Scribner of Mountain View and Rodney Selph of West Fork.
The game is part of All Star Week, which includes the baseball and softball games on Tuesday, June 20, with the contests to be played in Bear Stadium and Farris Field. The all star soccer and volleyball games are set for Wednesday, June 21, and the week will conclude with the annual all star football game on Friday, June 23, in Estes Stadium, also on the campus of UCA in Conway.
