Pre-season practice for the local football teams began Monday, July 31, although off-season conditioning has been ongoing. Pictured is the Piggott Mohawk senior high squad as they ran through offensive plays Monday morning at Parker Field. Later in the morning the junior high squad also gathered in preparation for the season to come.

The Rector Cougars are scheduled to begin their season on Tuesday, Aug. 29, with a non-conference game at Palestine-Wheatley. The junior Cougars will host the junior Mohawks for the first game of the season on Thursday, Aug. 31, at Temerian Field in Rector. The following night, Friday, Sept. 1, the Tribe will host the Hazen Hornets in non-conference play at Parker Field.

Former Mohawk Cody Crittenden has completed his project of painting the old blockhouse dressing room facility adjacent to the football field/track complex. Last week the last of the lettering was applied to the structure, giving it a new look for the football and track seasons to come.
