Mohawk Golf Team Sees Action
The PHS Mohawk golf team swung into conference play last week, taking second in a tri-match on Tuesday at SCCC and then taking first in a four-way set Thursday at Osceola.
The Tribe hosted Manila and Rivercrest last Tuesday at Sugar Creek Country Club, finishing second to the Lions and ahead of the Colts.
Brock Birmingham was medalist for Manila with a 37, as they shot 121 for first place. Meanwhile, the Mohawks were led by Mazin Chase with a 41 as they shot 134. Rounding out play were Matthew Cheshire with a 55 and Ethan Holcomb with a 58.
The Lions also got a round of 39 from Joel Burrow and 45 from Cade Carter. Rivercrest was paced by Chris Fetsch with a 53 while Joseph Roberts shot 54 and Elijah Nichols had a 59.
In girls action it was Manila's Presley Pierce with a 58 while Rivercrest got a round of 61 from Grace Pierce and a round of 63 from Bailee Moon.
The Tribe travelled to Osceola on Thursday and beat Corning, Rivercrest and Riverside in conference play. The Mohawks shot 147 while the Bobcats shot 155, paced by medalist Jonathan Holcomb. Rounding out the field were the Colts with 160 and the Rebels with 168.
Leading the way for PHS was Chase and Jordan Simipson with 47s while Holcomb shot 53 and Cheshire carded a 55.
