The events at Rector's annual Labor Day Picnic will kick-off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, at the Rector Community Center. Once again opening the weekend of events in Rector will be the musical showcase, the Ultimate Oldies Show. The curtain is scheduled to go up at 7 p.m. and event organizers note concessions will be offered prior to the concert and at intermission.

A limited number of reserved seating tickets promise comfy chairs, and a great view, and are available for $20 each while they last. General admission is $15 per ticket, and are available at the Rector Water Department.

Tickets may also be secured and left at the will-call by calling Linda Robinson, community center director, at 870 595-3035. All proceeds from the annual concert are earmarked for continued improvements to the Rector Community Center.

On hand for the entertainment will be several reunion groups holding their opening event at the Labor Day kick-off event. A packed house will be entertained by the members of the talented Morris family, with specials such as “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Standard favorites like “I Will Always Love You,” “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Soul Man,” “Soldier Boy,” will surely bring to the surface old feelings and memories. Organizers note the concert promises to add pizzazz and laughs, memories and momentum to all the events surrounding Labor Day weekend.
