Lady Mohawk Volleyball Team in Action

The Piggott Lady Mohawk volleyball team dropped matches to a pair of the top volleyball programs in the state last week, as the hosted Brookland and visited Westside. Tuesday evening they swept Cedar Ridge.

The Lady Bearcats visited PHS on Tuesday, Aug. 29, and swept both matches from their hosts. The visitors took the junior match in straight sets, 15-25 and 19-25. On the night Maddie Reeves had 5 kills for the Tribe, while Macey Williams finished with 9 assists and 3 digs.

The senior girls also fell in straight sets to Brookland but showed improvement as the night progressed, as they notched scores of 16-25, 21-25 and 24-26.

Emily Trosper had a strong night with 9 digs, 5 kills and 2 assists; Ally Kilbreath had 7 digs and 4 kills; Madison Rahn recorded 13 assists and 4 digs; Hannah Powell finished with 21 digs and Lexi Herren added another 14 digs in the loss.

Westside

The Mohawk teams visited historic Westside High School Thursday evening and were swept in straight sets by the Lady Warriors.

The junior girls fell 19-25 and 19-25, with Reeves recording an 89 percent passing effeciency with 6 digs while Claire Bellers had an 88 percent passing effeciency with 6 kills, 1 ace and 8 digs. Rounding out the effort for the Junior Lady Mohawks, Williams had 13 assists and Annalee Massey had 5 kills and 5 digs.

The senior girls also fell in straight sets to their hosts, losing 12-25, 18-25 and 17-25.

Rahn had 4 digs and 20 assists on the night; Powell finished with 12 digs; Trosper had 7 kills; Carlie Vancil contributed 7 digs and 1 ace; Herren had 6 digs and 1 ace and Kilbreath finished with 5 kills.

The junior and senior squads traveled to Cedar Ridge Tuesday evening, and swept both matches. All teams are slated to be in action Thursday, Sept. 7, at home as they host Crowley's Ridge Academy. On Saturday, Sept. 9, the senior squad will travel to Harrison to take part in SlamFest and all teams will visit Ridgefield Christian next Tuesday, Sept. 12.
