Lady Mohawk Tennis Team in Action
The Mohawk girls tennis team hosted the Lady Tigers of Caruthersville in non-conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and swept the day. The Lady Mohawks took the match by a score of 9-3, as they improved their record on the season.
In singles action, Emilee Seegraves padded her new school records for matches played and matches won, as the took her singles set with Kate Akins 6-4. Also winning for the Tribe in singles were Brooke Roberts over lallie Holoman; Madison Pool over Anya Mize; Ashley Grissom over Bailey Weber; Shi Higdon over Rachel Rickman and Maggie Williams over mary Allyn Long. Meanwhile, Destini Chase dropped her match to Kristen Akins and Georgina Bautista came up short against Lexy Walker.
The Tribe took three of four in doubles play, with the teams of Seegraves and Chase beating Akins and Akins; Bautista and Pool downed Holloman and Walker; Roberts and Grissom beat Mize and Weber while Higdon and Alexis Russell fell to Rickman and Long.
There was also a special junior high match, as Piggott seventh grader Autumn Covert took on Abigail Mason, falling 1-4.
With the win the Lady Mohawk tennis team extends its record to 5-1-2. They were schedule to be in action Monday night as well.
