Mohawk Golf Team Second in District

The Piggott Mohawk boys golf team finished second in their district at Eagle Mountain in Batesville on Wednesday, as the Manila Lions took first place.

With the runner-up finish the Tribe earns a spot in the upcoming 3A state tournament.

Pacing the Mohawk effort was Mazin Chase with an 89 while Trey Gossett shot 94 and Isaac Langley carded a 96.

Also earning trips to the state for their play as singles were Jonathan Holcomb of Corning and Alex Crandel of Tuckerman.

Crandel's Bulldogs finished third but didn't qualify for state as a team, as did fourth place Cedar Ridge, fifth place Corning, sixth place Rivercrest, seventh place Riverside and eighth place Hoxie.
