The James W. Graves HeadStart Center in Rector took part in a special regional 9-11 program to honor first responders Monday morning. The observance was held at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, with the students presenting banners, and other artwork, to members of the Rector Fire Department, Clay County Task Force Rescue Squad and local EMS personnel. Local director Heather Little noted it was planned to celebrate the first responders in the area, and show appreciation for all they do. Participating were Assistant Fire Chief Steve Sigsby, firefighter Justin Jackson and the EMS team of Shawn McDowell and Rob Colbert. Similar ceremonies were held in Walnut Ridge, Jonesboro and Forrest City.
