It's homecoming week at Rector High School, culminating with the annual football contest Friday night against the Salem Greyhounds.

The Rector Cougar cheerleaders are sponsoring a homecoming parade at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.

Each high school class, grades 7-12, will showcase floats celebrating RHS and the Cougars. The Cougar band will lead the parade with the cheerleaders, pep club, football team, homecoming court and several local businesses with floats leading cheers and saluting the crowd.

The organizers encourage business owners and shoppers, parents and all residents to line the streets and neighborhoods along the parade route to celebrate with the school. The parade will originate at the high school on Fifth Street and move to Main Street, where police will manage traffic. Marching along Main Street to Third Street, the Cougar band will lead the floats and cars as the parade follows Third Street, turning to circle back to the school where a 1 p.m. pep rally is scheduled at the school gym.

As one of the highlights of the homecoming football game that evening as the Cougars take on Salem at 7 p.m., the homecoming royalty will be presented and the queen and her court will be announced in the pregame, set for 6.

Other Cougar fans who wish to participate in the parade may contact Brittany Clark at 870-595-3553 or by e-mail bclark@rector.k12.ar.us
