Rector Set to Host Special Movies in the Park
Rector Downtown Central, with assistance from NewWave Communications, is set to present a Fall Movie Night in the Park. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, the Disney original movie “Hocus Pocus” will be shown on the big screen. The movie, starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson Sisters, is a great way to celebrate the Halloween season. And, those attending are invited to wear costumes to help get into the spirit of the fall season. As usual, everyone is reminded to bring their lawn chairs and blankets as they come out and enjoy the fun.
The movie “Hocus Pocus” has become a genre classic that tells a far-fetched tale involving a teenage boys who moves to Salem, Mass., from California. As Halloween approaches, all manner of mischief is released when the three sisters return from the dead as comedic witches.
The film is rated PG-13, and parents of young children are advised the movie could be disturbing—so it may not be advisable to bring small children to this presentation. Organizers noted the showing of “Hocus Pocus” was arranged primarily with adults and teenagers in mind, in an effort to broaden the scope of the traditional summer evening shows in the park. During those summer events, Downtown Central exclusively presents G-Rated movies for General Audiences of all ages.
The Rector Downtown Central group focuses on bringing entertainment, and other activities, to the downtown area.
“A movie under the stars on a fall night in Rector is just part of what we do,” noted Dixie Lawrence, president of the organization. “As residents come to downtown events, they'll see neighbors and look forward to more activity in downtown Rector.”
