George Wallace "Wally" Johnson, Jr.
George Wallace “Wally” Johnson, Jr., 79, of Forrest City, Ark., formerly of Piggott, Ark., passed away Monday, October 23, 2017, at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born on August 26, 1938, in Piggott, to the late Wallace and Ina Louise “Lamb” Dunscombe Johnson.
After completing college he became a Certified Public Accountant working in that field for over 35 years. He was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a licensed pilot and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
He was united in marriage to Erna Gernet on Nov. 25, 1960.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Joe Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Erna Johnson; two daughters, Erna Louise Morphis of Forrest City, Ark., and Tina Little and husband Mark of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Anthony Keith Johnson and wife Sherrie, of Piggott; six grandchildren, Rhett Morphis and wife Sammi, of Manila, Ark., Rachel Morphis, of Forrest City, Ark., Emily and Kristina Unruh of Tulsa, Okla., Meredith Johnson of Twin Lakes, Mich. and Skylar Johnson of Piggott; two great grandchildren, Jewels Morphis of Forrest City, Ark. and RJ Morphis of Manila, Ark. and one brother, Ike Williams of Carmel, Ind. He is also survived by a host of relatives and many friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Piggott Cemetery with Bro. Mace Straubel officiating.
