Junior Mohawks Stumble at WR
The Piggott Junior Mohawks dropped a 28-6 conference road game at Walnut Ridge last Thursday, as the Bobcat's Cole Manning had a big night with three touchdowns. The Tribe will return to Parker Field for Thursday night's game, as they host the Hoxie Mustangs.
The Bobcats, and Manning, wasted little time last Thursday as he scored on a 25 yard touchdown run at the 7:41 mark of the first quarter. Manning scored his second touchdown, and added the two point conversion, at the 4:17 mark of the second quarter and added a 10 yard touchdown run with 5:52 left in the ballgame. Landon Sain added a 25 yard touchdown run with 1:17 left in the first half to complete the scoring for the hosts.
As for the Mohawks, they got their lone touchdown about mid-way through the fourth quarter as Tanner Dixon carried it in from two yards.
Dixon led the Tribe in rushing on the night with 44 yards on 10 carries, while Brandon Seal had 33 yards on two carries; Michael Parker finished with 33 yards on eight totes, Trent Stevens had five yards on three carries and Logan Ralph carried the ball three times, but had negative yards rushing. Manning led all ball carriers on the night with 135 yards on 13 carries.
The Mohawk seventh grade squad also dropped the early game by a final of 12-8.
Both squads will wrap up their regular seasons Thursday night at Parker Field, with the seventh grade being played at 5:30 and the junior high game kicking-off at 7.
