Veterans Day Activities Planned in Piggott

Veteran's Day will be marked with two ceremonies in Piggott on Friday, Nov. 10.

The Marching Mohawk Band will host a special ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. at Piggott High School. All veterans, and the public, are invited to attend. The ceremony will include special musical performances and other offerings.

The traditional wreath ceremony, hosted by American Legion Post #38 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4517, will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, on the Clay County courthouse lawn in Piggott. The ceremony will be held at the veteran's memorial in front of the east entrance, and serves to honor all veterans. Everyone is invited to attend.

An open house will also be going on from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the War Memorial Building on Friday, Nov. 10. Coffee and donuts will be served beginning at 8 a.m. with chili and barbecue served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The open house is for all veterans and their families. Organizers also requested that veteran families bring a dessert.
