Seeds Set for 59th Annual WBC Tournament

The seeds have been announced for the 2017 Williams Baptist College High School Tournament, which begins Saturday, Nov. 25. On the girls’ side, 2015 champion Bay High School comes in as the top seed, while seven time champion Tuckerman High School earned the top honors on the boys’ side.

Joining Bay on the girls bracket are: (2) Pocahontas, (3) Corning, (4) Marmaduke, (5) Maynard, (6) Tuckerman, (7) Sloan-Hendrix, (8) Hillcrest, (9) Viola, (10) Walnut Ridge and (11) Rector. The top five seeds will receive a bye through the first round.

The Lady Cougars will play Tuckerman at noon on Saturday, Nov. 25 and with a win will advance to play Corning at 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Marmaduke and Maynard get a bye and face each other at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Top seeded Tuckerman boys are followed by (2) Marmaduke, (3) Corning, (4) Pocahontas, (5) Bay, (6) Riverside, (7) Rector, (8) Hillcrest, (9) Walnut Ridge, (10) Sloan-Hendrix and (11) Maynard. Once again, the top five seeds will receive a bye through the first round.

The Cougars will take on Sloan-Hendrix at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, in the first round. With a win they'll play Marmaduke at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The 'Hounds, as the two-seeds, have a bye in the first round.

The games will be played beginning on Nov. 25, with the championships being played on Friday, Dec. 1. All games will be played at the Southerland-Mabee Center on the WBC campus in Walnut Ridge, Ark. Those who wish can follow the tournament daily with updates at
