Greyhounds in Regular Season, WBC Tourney Play
The Marmaduke Lady Greyhounds (11-4) tuned-up for their Williams Baptist Tournament game with Maynard, set for Tuesday evening, with a lopsided 71-37 conference win over East Poinsett County (0-3) Monday night. On Tuesday they fell in double OT by a score of 68-65, to Tuckerman. As for the Marmaduke boy's team (8-3), they had a bye in the first round of the WBC tournament bracket as well, and beat Sloan-Hendrix to advance to tonight's semi-final against Corning.
The Lady Greyhounds had no trouble getting by the Lady Warriors, jumping to a 16-7 lead by the end of the first quarter, enjoying a 35-13 advantage at intermission and leading 51-29 going into the fourth quarter of play.
Leading all scorers was Emma Foster with 26 for MHS, while Natalie Lentz finished with 12 and Scout Weatherford was also in double figures with 10 points on the night. Markiya Ward and Madison Wiggins each had 10 for EPC in the loss.
In the win over the other Greyhounds, the Marmaduke boys (9-3) got 24 from Derek Agee while Jonathan Webb added another 11 in the come-from-behind win. Today, Thursday, Nov. 30, they'll take on the Corning Bobcats in the 5:50 p.m. start.
