State Football Playoffs Continue
The first three state high school football champions in Arkansas will be crowned this weekend with the 7A, 6A and 5A title games to be played. Bentonville and North Little Rock face off on the 7A; Pine Bluff and Greenwood meet in the 6A and McClellen and Pulaski Academy contend for the 5A crown.
Meanwhile, the semi-finals are set in the other classes with several regional teams still in the hunt.
The Earle Bulldogs will host Foreman Friday night, after beating conference mates Salem 50-31 last week. The winner will take on the winner of the Harmony Grove and Mt. Ida contest next Saturday, Dec. 9 for the 2A crown.
Both the Osceola Seminoles and Rivercrest Colts are in the hunt for the 3A title, and the two long-time neighbors and rivals could meet next week for the crown if they can advance Friday night. Osceola will be making the long trip to Junction City, while the Colts will be home in the cotton patch as they host McGehee.
Rounding out the playoffs are the 4A semi-finals, which includes Robinson taking on Warren and Pea Ridge facing Arkadelphia. Those winners will also face-off for a state title the following weekend, as the high school football season draws to a close in Arkansas.
