Jimmie Edward Scheffler
Jimmie Edward Scheffler, 80, of Piggott, Ark., passed away December 2, 2017, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was born May 24, 1937, in Pollard, Ark., and was the son of the late Gus and Lorene (Cook) Scheffler.
He was united in marriage to Peggy Bland on June 7, 1958, and she preceded him in death on March 26, 2015.
Jimmie was a longtime member and deacon of Emmanuel Baptist Church, of Piggott.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Billy, Alfred and Carl Scheffler; and three sisters, Mary Kilbreath, Pauline Bradberry and Margie Chidster.
Survivors include his two sons, Bradley Scheffler of Piggott, and Gordon (Travis) Scheffler of Piggott; two daughters, Sherry Ort and husband Jimmy of Alexander, Ark., and Teresa Moody and husband Jon of Kansas City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Leah, Andrew, Alex, Autumn, Jessie and Chloe; two great-granddaughters, Madison and Presley; two sisters, Betty Ort of McDougal, Ark., and Patsy Ray of Piggott, along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the Hoggard and Sons Chapel with Jon Moody and Kevin Murray officiating. Burial is in New Hope Cemetery in Pollard, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Andrew Scheffler, James Moseley, Eli Smith, J Finley, Jamey Bland and Jerry Massey. Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home, of Piggott, is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, and continue until the time of the service at the funeral home.
