The sights and sounds of the holiday season will be the order of the day on Saturday, Dec. 9, as the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce holds their annual Christmas Fest and Parade. The public is invited to attend, as downtown Piggott will host a variety of vendors from 2 to 5 p.m. There will also be free drawings for toys, although kids must be present to win. The toys for the drawings are provided by a number of corporate sponsors, individuals and the Chamber of Commerce. Each child attending will also receive a ticket good for a free hot dog, compliments of First National Bank, Piggott Banking Center.

Once again this year the special guest will be Santa Claus, who will be in his new house from 2 to 4:30 p.m. During this time everyone is invited to stop by with their cameras, or phones, and get a souviner photo. Afterward, his elves report he'll be off to take part in the annual parade.

Line-up for the parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Piggott Elementary School, and there is no entry fee. All clubs, groups, businesses and organizations are encouraged to enter a float, with a special emphasis this year on lighted entries. There will also be other catagories, and additional information is available from the Chamber of Commerce.

The parade is set to roll west along Main Street beginning at 5, making its way to the downtown square. Afterward, there will be drawings for kid's bicycles, provided courtesy of Piggott State Bank and Aerial Bouquets. Event organizers noted the drawings are only open to specific age groups, and the kids must be present to win.

Organizers noted some vendor space is still available, and those wanting additional information on taking part in the Christmas Fest may call the Piggott Area Chamber of Commerce office at 870 598-3167. They may also be reached by email at chamberpg@yahoo.com
