CCAC Hosting Casting Calls

Thursday, December 28, 2017

The Clay County Arts Council has announced auditions are set for the event of the new year--Night of Chocolate with a Murder Mystery, A Window for Murder by Nathan Coey.

The date for the event is Saturday, Feb 17, with tickets going on sale in mid-Janaury.

Auditions for the 11 cast positions will be held this week at the Rector Community Center. The auditions will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec 29, and beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30. The play will be cast by Jan. 1, with rehearsals to be held at the Rector Community Center, the venue for this year's Night of Chocolate.

The play is a spoof on the Sherlock Holmes-type murder mystery with broad British humor. Set in the 1920s in England (not England, Ark.), the London estate of the Straitford’s is the focal point where a group of zany characters interact. From the widow Julia Straitford and her family to the antics of William, the loony nephew, the characters keep the laughs coming.

Six male characters and five female characters are needed along with stage production personnel. Producers note there is a place in this event for everyone interested. So, interested actors are invited to polish-up a classy British accent and dust off the Christmas glitter, gather your friends and make a pledge to be a part of A Window for Murder by Nathan Coey.

The play will be under the direction of Piggott native, and PHS grad, Quinton Mauldin, with assistance from Center Stage Productions-which brings experience in staging community theatre.

Mauldin notes he is looking for people with a passion for the stage and a willingness to create an environment that calls to all people who have performance experience or dreams. Reaching deep into Clay County and inviting all ages to be involved through Clay County Arts Council, Mauldin adds, “We are looking for a great audition experience with plenty of opportunities to be involved. We invite everyone to audition either Friday evening or Saturday afternoon. Join the fun!”
