Cougar Boys and Girls in Action

Thursday, January 18, 2018

The Rector Cougars traveled to Jonesboro and took on Ridgefield Christian last Tuesday, Jan. 9, and fell to the Warriors 67-54 in conference play. The inside-outside play of RFC proved too much for the Cougars, as they were edged for the second time this year.

The RHS boys had two players score in double figures on the night, led by Kirk Beshears with 18 and Max Ford with 11.

In the early game the Junior Cougars got 11 points from Trey Horton, as they beat the Ridgefield Christian junior squad by a final of 43-36.

The Lady Cougars also dropped game to Ridgefield Christian last week, losing 38-34 at Jonesboro to the Lady Warriors.

Wednesday night the teams split in the First National Bank Battle of the Border, being played at Corning High School. The Lady Cougars fell to Westside 46-42, despite a late game run by the RHS squad, while the boys easily handled the Southland Rebels, from Cardwell, Mo., 62-25.

Thursday afternoon at 5 p.m. the Lady Cougars are slated to take on the Lady Mohawks in the consolation bracket, while the boys team will play Friday in pool play. Both teams will be in action Saturday, although the times and opponents were yet to be determined.
