Brent Wood Rogers
Brent Wood Rogers, 58, of Kojima, Japan, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017. He was born on July 4, 1959, in Piggott, Ark., and grew up in Piggott and Crockett area of Northeast Arkansas. He graduated from Harding University in 1980.
He loved God, loved people and loved listening to people. He served God as a missionary for three years in India, taught English at the Junior/Senior High School in Augusta, Ark., and served as a missionary 22 years in Japan sharing God's love and the Gospel with all he met.
Brent was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Olive (McReynolds) Rogers; his father, Rue Porter Rogers; and a brother, Ben Arthur Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee (Hougey) Rogers; his sisters, Helen Elisabeth “Beth” Brewer and Ru Anne Rogers; a brother, Eddie Rogers; two children, Tim (wife Stacy) Rogers and Rachel (husband Chris) Patton; three grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 13, in Japan. A second memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, at Cloverdale Church of Christ, 3000 East Park Avenue, Searcy, Ark., 72120. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Logos Welcome House building fund (in Japan), in care of the Cloverdale Church of Christ.
