Piggott MLWS Announces Delay on Late Charges

Thursday, February 1, 2018

City of Piggott Utility Administrator Brian Haley announced on Thursday that due to the extremely cold weather conditions, which resulted in high consumption on electric bills, MLWS will be delaying the posting of penalties until Feb. 21, 2018

By doing this the local utility will be giving customers an additional 10 days to pay their utility bills without penalties being added.

Those who have questions concerning the process may call 870 598-3243 or email them at billing@cityofpiggott.org

“If you need to make payment arrangements on your bill, please call our office and we will be happy to help you,” a spokeswoman added.

The delay was prompted after many customers received much larger than average bills due to heavy consumption during the recent cold snap. Haley noted the city's rate did not change for the period, although usage of power was up by a wide margin leading to the moratorium.
