The Piggott Lady Mohawks are in the process of wrapping-up regular season play this week against their two county rivals, and will be set to host next week's 3A-3 district tournament at PHS.

Last week, the Tribe dropped a pair of games Hoxie as they completed the home and away schedule with the Lady Mustangs. Friday night they made the long trip to Melbourne with the boys teams, and fell by a final of 72-29 to the Lady Bearkatz.

Tuesday night, the squad closed out the home portion of the schedule with a conference game against Corning and marked senior night. With only five players dressed due to the flu, the Tribe and the Lady Bobcats took part in what evolved into something other than a rivalry contest. With the Lady Bobcats enjoying the distinct advantage, the teams swapped three point baskets throughout the game in an effort to raise funds for the Hannah Blankenship Scholarship Fund at CHS. The Corning sophomore player was killed last month in a two vehicle accident near the city, and her memory was front and center at the contest. In the late game, Mohawk senior Quentin Reeves also remembered Blankenship by wearing her number 4 as the senior boys battled the Bobcats. Blankenship was also a member of the FFA, and had several friends and acquaintances at PHS. The complete story on the fundraiser, and the response, may be found in the upcoming edition of the CCTD.

Friday night the Piggott girls will make the short trip to Rector, to take on the Lady Cougars as RHS marks senior night for 2018.

The Lady Mohawks are the four-seed from the west division, and they'll take on the east top-seeded Lady Rebels of Riverside at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 12, at PHS. The winner will advance to take on the winner of Tuesday's Corning-Manila game at 4 p.m. Thursday.

In the lower half of the bracket, the Lady Mustangs will face Osceola at 7 p.m. Monday and Rivercrest will take on Walnut Ridge in a 4 p.m. start on Tuesday. Those winners will also play Thursday, with tip off set for 7 p.m.

The girl's third-fourth place seeding game will be played at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, with the championship game set for 7 p.m. that evening at Piggott High School.

All of the semi-finalist will qualify for the upcoming 3A-Region 3 tournament at Melbourne.
