Abel Stahl, age 99 of Marmaduke, Ark., formerly of Boydsville, Ark., passed from this life on Tuesday February 20, 2018, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, Paragould, Ark. He was born on May 4, 1918, to the late Arthur and Janie Clayton Stahl. He was a World War II Veteran serving in Germany, France, Belgium and Austria. He was awarded three Bronze Stars for his dedicated service.
Abel was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Loney Null, Rachel Dowdy and Lorene Foster; an infant brother, Loren Stahl, and a son-in-law, Duane Dickinson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Velma Hardin Stahl, whom he married on September 2, 1944; two daughters, Lynda Dickinson of Marmaduke and Louise Moore and husband Larry of Paragould; four grandchildren, Melanie Gamble and husband John of Kennett, Mo., along with Jennifer Anthony and husband Shanon, Jason Moore and wife Courtney and Jake Moore and wife Amy all of Paragould; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Mays, Maggie Lou Mays, Ava Anthony, Lane Moore and Gemma Kate Moore all of Paragould; along with a host of other special relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 22, at the Irby Funeral Home in Rector, Ark. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Irby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sonny Childs officiating. Interment will be held at Woodland Heights Cemetery, Rector, with full military honors.
