Rector FFA Dinner and Auction Saturday
A popular annual fundraiser returns this coming weekend, as the Rector High School chapter of the FFA will host its 16th annual catfish dinner and auction beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 10. The event will be held at the Rector Community Center and all funds generated will benefit the local chapter. Organizers noted donations for the auction are also still being gathered, and are appreciated.
The doors will open, and catfish will be served, beginning at 5 p.m. with the auction to follow at 6. Thanks to a generous donation to the Rector FFA, there will be no charge for the dinner this year, although donations will still be accepted at the door.
Rector agri teacher, and FFA sponsor, Michael Hollis is also still gathering donations for the fundraiser. He can be reached at 870 595-3616 weekdays and at 870 598-4321.
Each year hundreds of supporters gather for the dinner and auction, as well-over 100 donated items are scheduled to cross the block. During the 2017 event over $12,000 was raised to benefit the Rector High FFA program.
“The money we raise from this auction funds educational trips for the FFA students, and pays for hotel rooms at state and national FFA conventions,” Hollis explained. “It's also used to underwrite the costs involved with our students showing livestock.”
The public is welcome, and encouraged to attend.
