CCAC Art Show Saturday
The annual Clay County Arts Council’s adjudicated Art Show, established to showcase and recognize artwork from students in the Corning, Piggott and Rector School districts will be held on Saturday, March 10. The show will be open to the public from 2 to 4 p.m. and is being held at the Piggott Community Center.
Organizers note the county's art teachers have received information regarding presentation and timing for the pieces to be judged, with all art work required to be at the community center in Piggott no later than 3 p.m. on Friday.
Judging by a team of professional artists will take place Saturday morning. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places in grade level categories at the event’s reception. The awards presentation and reception, catered with cookies and punch by Piggott City Market, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the community center.
County art teachers present for the event will receive a $100 grant for art supplies to be used in their art programs. “This award is in recognition of the work they do with children to encourage the talent within each child,” a spokesperson for the CCAC noted.
Organizers noted art pieces from children who are home-schooled are welcomed. Those wanting more information may contact CCAC board member John James at 214-704-9202.
