MHS Baseball and Softball Update
Both Marmaduke Greyhound teams recorded double-header sweeps on Monday.
The Lady Greyhound softball squad finally got their season underway with a twin-bill at Imboden, beating Sloan-Hendrix 6-1 in the first game and 9-8 in six innings in the second.
Natalie Lentz got the start in the circle in game one, fanning eight in notching the win. Alyssa Henry had a big game at the plate in the nightcap, driving in five runs in the win.
They begin the season at 2-0 and 2-0 in conference.
The Lady 'Hounds later dropped a game to East Poinsett County in conference play Tuesday, and will host Marked Tree in 2A-2 play on Thursday before the idle period for spring break.
Meanwhile, the Greyhound baseball squad posted a sweep over the Maynard Tigers Monday, winning 5-4 and 10-1.
The squad had begun the season March 2, with a 12-0 loss to Corning, then fell to White Country Central by a final of 12-2. They also dropped a set to Hillcrest, 5-4 and 10-1, prior to the Maynard games. With the wins over the Tigers they move to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
The baseball 'Hounds were scheduled to visit Imboden for a double-header with Sloan-Hendrix Tuesday, and will host the Hoxie Mustangs on Friday, March 16, before observing spring break.
