Piggott FFA Enjoys Success at CDE
Members of the Piggott High School chapter of the FFA qualified several teams for state during the FFA Eastern District Career Development Events held Saturday, March 7, at Arkansas State University.
The PHS team brought home the district championships in land judging, with team members Cooper Harris scoring the highest individual score, while Dalton James was second highest. Other team members contributing to the win were Ben Holcomb and Matthew Cheshire.
The Piggott FFA forestry team brought home second place honors, with members Alex Gibson, Luke Boyd, Drake Featherston and Trey Gossett. The dairy foods team was third, with members Jacy Featherston, Emma Shaw, Annalee Massey and Shalyn Lewis.
The livestock team brought home fourth place honors with members Hannah Powell, Hannah Smart, Allison Kilbreath and Molly Grace Williams. And, the nursery landscape team had a top-10 finish as they were ninth with members Madison Rahn, Carlie Vancil, Rylea Harmon and Claire Bellers.
All those teams also earned a spot in the upcoming state event. Two other PHS teams also qualified for state based on their performances at ASU. The electricity team qualified with members John Jones, Cade Harrell, Cory Fuller and Elijah Bellers with Jones early the second highest individual score. Meanwhile, the agronomy team of Katelyn Jackson, Presley Tullos, Madison Vanderkooi and Shelby Howard also qualified for state.
