Graveside services for Jimmy Neeley, 70, of Burleson, Tex., are scheduled for Friday, April 6, 2018, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, with Pastor Ed Newton officiating. Neeley died in Burleson, on March 31, 2018, after a brief but fierce struggle with brain cancer.
He was born September 3, 1947, in Malden, Mo., to Herman and Dessie Neeley.
He and his wife, Peggy, met while students in Piggott Schools. They were married in June of 1966, and four months later he was drafted into military service. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam.
Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 51 years; a son, Greg Neeley and wife, Kari; their children, Payton and Ashlyn; a daughter, Christy Carroll and husband, Travis; along with their daughters, Presley and Brynn. He is also survived by a sister, Patsy Gatlin, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Melba and Gillis.
Working as a carpenter in Cedar Hill, Tex., for 25 years, Jimmy had retired to live in Burleson. He took pleasure in many outdoor sports, but his favorite pastime was hunting. He enjoyed the camaraderie of friends around the camp fire, but even when alone, enjoyed being in the mountains or woods, surrounded by Godís nature.
