Easter Marked With Traditional Activities
Although the ground had been rain-soaked earlier in the week, weather conditions were good for the local Easter observances on Friday and Saturday. Friday evening the Emmanuel Baptist Church, of Piggott, held a traditional cross walk. The walk began on the square in downtown Piggott, with a large crowd quietly following the man portraying Jesus as he carried the cross along East Main to North Johnson, and on to the church.
Saturday there were numerous Easter egg hunts, including events at churches in Pollard, Rector and Piggott. According to organizers, the good weather led to large crowds.
