Teddy H. McDowell
Teddy H. McDowell, 85, of Battle Creek, Mich., passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo, Mich. He was born January 21, 1933, in Clay County Arkansas to Ameral and Etta (Reagan) McDowell. Teddy married Lowella Gerlach on Feb.24, 1951, and she preceded him in death.
A 1950 graduate of Albion High School, Teddy loved trains, World War II books, reading biographies and word search books. He also liked John Deere tractors and to tinker.
Teddy owned McDowell’s Bar in Coldwater, Mich., from 1970 to 1974 and was a member of the Homer Fire Department from 1954 to 1970.
Teddy is survived by daughters, Diane (Gary) Truax of Coldwater, Linda (Robert) Gerstein of Reisterstown, Md., Kathleen “Kitty” (Mike) Roberts of Allen, Mich., LuAnn Traves of Battle Creek and Dawn (John) Harvey of China Township, Mich.; a son, David McDowell of Quincy, Mich.; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Lowella, Teddy was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosetta Peckham; a grandson, Anthony Robert Smith and a great-granddaughter, Heaven Waldecker.
Funeral services for Teddy H. McDowell will be held at 12 noon on Monday, April 9, at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel, in Quincy, with Pastor Mike Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, continuing until the time of service at the funeral home.
