Lady Mohawks in Conference Play

Pocahontas jumped out to a 6-0 lead, Piggott fought back to tie the game at six only to see the Lady Redskins score 11 more runs over the last five innings to take a 17-9 win this past Wednesday in Pocahontas. Piggott was the home team for this game as weather had forced the switch.

The Lady Redskins went three up and three down in the top of the first as Piggott went three up and three down in the bottom of the first as Abby Dutka grounded out leading off, Hannah Powell popped out and Madison Rahn struck out to keep the game scoreless. Pocahontas used four hits and two errors to plate six runs to make it 6-0 Lady Redskins in the top of second inning. Ally Kilbreath popped out leading off the bottom of the second inning for the Lady Mohawks as Claire Bellers singled. Lexi Herren's fielder's choice forced Bellers at second before Hayley Springsteen reached on an error. Brielle Burkman struck out for the third out to keep in 6-0 Pocahontas after two innings.

Pocahontas added a run in the top of the third inning making 7-0 as Piggott sent 12 players to the plate and scored six runs in the bottom half of the inning. Alexis Russell led off with walk as Dutka followed with a single. Both runners moved up on a passed ball before Russell scored on another passed ball making it 7-1. Dutka scored on a passed ball making it 7-2 as Powell singled. Rahn reached on an error that scored Powell making it 7-3 as Rahn scored when Kilbreath reached on an error to make it 7-4 Pocahontas. Beller's fielder's choice got Kilbreath tagged out before Bellers scored on a single by HerrenHerren making it 7-5 Lady Redskins. Herren scored on a single by Springsteen to make it 7-6 Pocahontas as Burkman grounded out. Russell walked, Dutka singled before Powell struck out to end the inning with the score 7-6 Lady Redskins after three. Pocahontas plated three runs in the top of the fourth to go up 10-6 as Piggott went down in order as Rahn struck out before Kilbreath and Bellers each grounded out keeping the score 10-6 Pocahontas after four innings of play.

The Lady Redskins plated two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to go up 12-6 as the Lady Mohawks went down in order in the bottom half with Herren popping out, Springsteen grounding out and Burkman striking out as the score stayed 12-6 Pocahontas. The Lady Redskins threatened to score in the top of the sixth but Piggott kept them off the scoreboard before coming in and adding three runs to their total. Russel reached on an error before being forced out at second on Dutka's fielder's choice. Powell singled, Kilbreath reached on an error that scored Dutka and Powell to make it 12-8 Lady Redskins. Rahn struck out, Bellers singled to plate Kilbreath making it 12-9 Pocahontas. Herren grounded out to end the inning.

Pocahontas scored five runs in the top half of the seventh inning to take a 17-9 lead as Piggott went down in order as Springsteen popped out, Burkman grounded out and Destini Chase struck out looking to give the Lady Redskins the 17-9 win.

Bellers had two hits, a run scored and a RBI to lead Piggott as Herren had a hit, a run scored and a RBI. Springsteen had a hit and a RBI, Dutka had two hits and two runs scored, Powell had two hits and two runs scored as Rahn scored two runs. Kilebreath and Russell each scored a run for the Lady Mohawks.

Herren was tagged with the loss as she pitched all seven innings allowing 17 runs on 21 hits. She walked four and struck out four.

Also last week, the Lady Mohawks dropped a 14-1 conference game to Melbourne, and an 11-3 decision to the Manila Lady Lions. They were slated to host Blytheville in non-conference play Tuesday and travel to Walnut Ridge Thursday to take on the Lady Bobcats.
