Lady Cougars Sweep Maynard and Marmaduke
After battling wet weather conditions for days, the Rector Lady Cougars returned to action Friday with a lopsided sweep over Maynard at the sports complex. Riding a strong pitching performance by Maddie Hobbs, the Lady Cougars swept the Lady Tigers 11-1 and 11-1 in the twin bill. Tuesday afternoon they took on Marmaduke and once again posted a sweep, taking the two games by final scores of 5-1 and 13-2.
In the sweep of Maynard, Hobbs pitched both complete games, facing 40 batters in the process. On the day she gave up only six hits, two walks and hit three of the Lady Tigers with pitches. Along the way she fanned 11, while three reached on errors.
Maddison Stokes had a perfect 3 for 3 day at the plate with three walks, as she had three singles to her credit and scored three runs. Meanwhile, Sawyer Hendrix had a 6 for 7 day at the plate, with five singles, a double and a walk and scored five times. Mylesa Gant was 5 for 7 with four singles, a double and was hit by a pitch; Alexis McKnight was 5 for 7 with four singles, a double and was hit by a pitch and scored three runs; Haleigh Ellis was 3 for 5 with three singles, a walk and was hit by a pitch and scored twice; Colbie Robinson was 3 for 7 with three singles, a walk and reached on an error while scoring four runs; Shianne Rients drew a pair of walks and scored twice; and Hobbs helped her cause with a 2 for 7 day at the plate with a pair of singles.

The Rector girls were scheduled to host Hillcrest on Thursday with the Blytheville Lady Chicks slated to visit the sports complex on Friday for non-conference play.
