The Piggott Mohawk baseball squad dropped a pair of games in the past week, as they're set to wrap up the regular season. On Friday, the team made the trip to Corning and dropped a 9-5 conference game to the Bobcats. Monday afternoon they visited Pocahontas, and saw the lead evaporate late as they fell 4-2. Thursday afternoon the Mohawks will honor this year's seniors.

The Bobcats gained the season sweep in a Friday the 13th road matchup last week, scoring four in the first against starter John Jones. The hosts added a run in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth, as Josh Lyman came on in relief. The Tribe scored two runs in the fourth, another one in the fifth, and plated two in the seventh. Leading the offense was Michael Palmer with a two-for-three day with two RBI while Jones was three-for-four at the plate in the loss.

Monday afternoon the Tribe was back on the road as they made the trip to Pocahontas to take on the potent Redskins. Trey Gossett drove in a pair of runs with an RBI single, and Jones added a double, as the Mohawks jumped to the early lead. But, the Redskins responded with three runs in the home half of the sixth to take the win. Also getting hits for the Mohawks were Palmer and Holden Tarno.

With the losses the Mohawks are slated to finish as the third seed from this division, and will likely take on Riverside Tuesday in the first round of next week's district tournament at Walnut Ridge.
