The Piggott Lady Mohawk softball team closed out the regular campaign last week, dropping a close game to Corning at home then falling in a twin-bill at Hoxie by a wide margin. They'll be in action this week in the district tournament at Walnut Ridge.

The senior members of the squad were introduced, and recognized, prior to last week's home finale with Corning at Independence Park. The members of the class of 2018 on the squad are Allison Kilbreath, Hannah Powell and Lexi Herren.

Afterward, the Lady Mohawks put up a strong fight against their cross-county rivals only to come up on the short end of a 4-2 decision. Powell got the start, and took the loss, as she worked all seven innings. Along the way she gave up four hits, two earned runs, walked one and struck out 10 Lady Bobcats.

Madison Rahn had a big game at the plate, as she went three-for-three with an RBI. Hayley Springsteen was three-for-four; Powell was two-for-four with a double and a run scored while Maddie Reeves and Kaylee Smith also had hits for the Tribe.

Thursday the Lady Mohawks made the trip to Hoxie to close out the regular season, and dropped a pair of lopsided decisions. The Lady Mustangs jumped to an early lead and cruised to a 7-1 final in the first game of the doubleheader. They followed that up with a 19-3 barrage in the nightcap, ending the Tribe's regular season.
