Junior Mohawk Track Team at District

The Piggott Mohawk junior track teams took part in the 3A-3 district meet at Osceola on Thursday, April 19, with both squads finishing in fifth. The Mohawk senior track teams were slated to take part in the 3A-3 senior meet on Monday, although that has been rescheduled for this Friday, April 27, at Osceola High School.

Boys Team

The Mohawks got a first place finish from Kyler Smith in the discus at the district meet, while Nicholas Helms was also in the points in seventh. Meanwhile, it was Helms and Kyson Conley also scoring points in the shot as they finished seventh and eighth with Nick Tillman and Logan White competing out of the points.

The 4x400 relay team ran second with legs by Logan Ralph, Hayden Emerson, Ethan Ralph and Joe Carpenter. The 4x100 relay team also ran fourth, with legs by Logan Ralph, Ethan Ralph, Carpenter and Brandon Seal. Meanwhile, the 4x800 relay team was fifth with legs by Angel Garcia, Chandler Smart, Emerson and Shawn-Hudson Seegraves.

Also competing, but out of the points-Ethan Ralph was also 10th in the 110 hurdles; Michael Parker ran 12th in both the 100 and 200 meter races; Jacob Johnson and Pearson Hearn ran the 400 and Nicky Risner and Dakota Book ran the 300 hurdles.

First place in the boys division went to the Rivercrest Junior Colts.

Girls Team

The Lady Mohawks generated three runner-up finishes at district, earning them a fifth place overall with 35 points. First place went to the host squad from Osceola.

Annalee Massey was second in the shot put, edged out of first place by a scant two inches. Also running second was Lady Mohawk distance ace Emma Shaw, as she was the runner-up in the 1600 meter race while Katelyn Robertson was also in the points with a sixth place finish.

Robertson also ran a leg in the 4x800 relay, as they also brought home runner-up honors for the district. Also running legs were Jasmine Terry, Kalaya Cole and Alyssa Blair. Later, Blair generated another point for her team as she ran eighth in the 400 meter race, while Terry and Shalyn Lewis were 11th and 12th.

Micha Harrell was in the points in both the 200 and 100 meter dashes, as she finished fourth and sixth respectively. Terry also ran in the sprints, but was out of the points. Harrell and Lewis also competed in the long jump, as they finished the day with 11th and 16th place finishes to their credits.
