The Piggott Mohawks closed out the regular season Thursday afternoon with a 12-2 home win over the Highland Rebels at Independence Park. Prior to the game the senior members of the squad were introduced and recognized in their final home appearance. The members of the PHS class of 2018 on the squad include John Jones, Josh Lyman, Quentin Reeves, Elijah Bellers and Hayden Lemmons.

Following the festivities, Lyman went out and worked the full five innings, earning the win while striking out six Rebel batters in the process.

Dylan Bellers had a strong game at the plate, as he was one-for-three on the game with a two-run homerun to his credit. Michael Palmer was two-for-three, with a single and a double and three RBI while Reeves was two-for-four in his final home appearance, with a pair of singles and two RBI to his credit.

Tate Isaac got the start, and took the loss, for Highland. They were paced at the plate by senior Samuel Stowers with a one-for-three day.

With the win the Mohawks extended their season record to 14-5 overall and 11-4 in conference play. They're slated to take on Riverside in the first round of the district at Walnut Ridge, set for 10 a.m. on Friday. The other games will also be played that day, with contests running until the evening.
